Q: How much is a 1970 chevy camaro worth?
okay its a 70 chevy camaro with engine problems, not the original paint, has primer spots in ALOT of places, it has shaved door handles wich i know lowers the value, has no door panels on the inside, does not have the original front seats, does not have the original hood, has no side windows and is missing exterior chrome pieces. How much would u say its worth??? PLEASE ANSWER....

A: damn, all that sounds like is a project car. i hope you're not buying that as a daily driver. no more than 6 to 7 hundred dollars in current condition. those interior parts are going to cost an arm leg and a small child...and are VERY hard to find. But when theyre 80% restored, the value can easily jump to around 13-14k. If you're looking to restore this car, then by all means, go for it.

Q: I want your view on the new 2009 camaro?
I have been a GM fan since i came to the country in 1992. I bought my first muscle car a 1969 fire bird , then a 65 gto after that i 1970 bandit , i had a 87, 96 camaro and i wasnt impressed. i was so excited to see they came out with the new 2009 camaro until i saw one the other day driving past me , my heat dropped when i saw this big plastic heap of crap cruise by, so i pulled into a chevy dealer ship and had a close up. took it for a test drive and returned it. I think chevy has insulted the name camaro with this inflated corvette--colbolt. I really think they should just retire the name camaro and give this thing a new name.

A: i agree chevrolet division has always geared their advertising to people who do not research the products they buy. chevy has always been quanity not quality. i was really hoping not to see this lame excuse for a car not go to production. chevy builds short life low quality products, compared to the japanese, ford and daimler products. ford would have followed this route but they expanded globally in a much more conservative manner than GM. Ford bought up aston martin, jaguar, etc. and applied the ethics of these small companies that have always survived because of their known quality being directly linked with the brand name. I am not a GM hater there are many models of theirs i like. It is a shame they couldn't put forth a little bit more effort and have a long lasting quality product. Thank you for reading

Q: 400 in a 86 camaro iroc z28?
Chevy 400 (6.6L) was made from i think 1970-1980. A lot of variation in terms of performance. Looking to buy a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro z28 on craigslist. The guy put in a 400 engine into this 86 camaro. He took the engine out of a late 70's Chevy truck. Has shorty headers, a new cam and lifters with 3.55 gears. 700R4 transmission and rearend. According to many, the best possible 400 engine produces 265 horsepower and tons of torque. The same people say some 400's produce only 170 horsepower, but still tons of torque. Say this car does only produce 170 horsepower but a lot of torque, what do you expect the 1/4 mile time is. Cuz Im not buying a v8 just cuz its got a loud noise. With the setup this guy has, is this car fast compared to a camaro with a 5.7L 350 V8. Which would win in the quarter mile drag?

A: These engines are the same guessing that you are speaking of small block Chevy engines. The only difference is the 400 has a larger bore and a longer stroke. The remainder such as heads, cams, carbs etc. are peripherals which can be interchanged readily. All else being equal, the larger engine will make the most power. You could of course hop up a 350 so that it would make more power than a certain 400 but you could then hop up the 400 so that it would make more power than the 350. As I said, All else being equal, the larger engine will make the most power. There is no magic to a 4 " bore or a 3.48" stroke or a 5.7" rod. None whatsoever.

Q: Question for chevy transmission swap?
I have a 1970 chevelle with a 350 engine in it and i was wondering if i can swap out its current automatic 350 tranny with a 6 speed tranny from a 1999 camaro ss please, detailed answer

A: Anything's possible if you want to put that much work into it. The camaro has a hydraulic clutch, so it would be really tricky. Custom mounts, driveshaft.

Q: what engine to choose, and for which vehicle?
OK. The engines I have are a corvette 350 400hp(1970), a 305 550hp(1975) and a 454 450hp(1970). Yes, the 305 is built to the hilt! The cars I wish to put them in are a 1973 Camaro, a 1964 Buick special 4 door, and a 1950 chevy sport coupe. However.....what engine do think should go in what car?

A: I would do the following: Put the 350 in the 1950 Chevy (the other engines are needed elsewhere) Put the 305 in the Camaro. A strong engine of that size (give or take a couple c.i.) is a nod to the original Z28, and the high HP from a small motor will do well in that relatively light car. A small-block will also keep the front end lighter, for handling - something you probably won't worry about in the other cars. Put the 454 into the Buick. A big heavy Buick deserves a big engine with some serious torque. Buicks have traditionally been biased toward torque vs. horsepower anyway. Have fun, whatever you do.

Q: Should I keep or sell my 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle?
I bought a 70 Chevelle about a year ago right after I got out of an all-too-expensive school where I racked up nearly $70,000 in school loans. This car is in pretty decent shape and has a newly rebuilt chevy 406, brand new Vintage Air, and a Painless wiring harness (among the most expensive items). I haven't been able to work on this car at all because we (me, my brother, and my dad) are trying to finish my brother's 1969 Camaro. I have a very good job and can afford to restore my own car, BUT I live with my dad and don't have any place to work on this because the camaro is taking up all the space and it won't be done for at least 12 more months. Also, I'm going to be getting married in about 12-18 months and I need to be saving my money to put a down payment on a house, pay off her ring, and pay off my loans---so technically...I dont have money to spend on the car---I don't need to be spending an ungodly amount of money restoring a car. Also, whenever I do get married, I will more than likely be moving about 30 miles away from my hometown where my brother and dad live; I won't be able to work on this car myself. I feel like this is something I would really like to do though, but I dont know that I can dedicate the amount of time or the funding required. I make enough money that I can just buy a restored Chevelle in a few years when I am more stable financially which is the direction I'm really leaning to right now. Any remarks, comments, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A: dont sell it, just hold on to it, until you get the money to finish it, and in the mean time you can just do little things here and there, if you have a good paying job like you say you have than it shouldnt be that big of a deal, you could always rent out a space, look around some times you can find a garage for rent, or rent a storage garage, just as long as its not Darrnells (Christine), but my advice is to not sell the car, the 70 chevelle is my favorite year of chevelle, and if I had one, I couldnt bare to part with it!

Q: Fast and the furious tokyo drift mustang Fastback and Monte Carlo!?
Wow i was so excited reading Hot Rod this mont and seeing that they were going to put a mustang and a bad a** Monte Carlo in it. But then after reading on, i was about to write hate mail to universal. Dose anyone else agree with the fact that If you are putting a Genuine american muscle car in the movie that it should have a V-8!! Come on!!! How can you ruin the only great car ford ever made (GO CHEVY!) by putting a stupid Foreign engine in it. (although i will admit that the Nissan Inline 6 is one of the greatest tuner engines ever) Oh well i am gunna go to see the Monte carlo, and remember the greatest F&F cars ever, the 1970 Blown Charger, The yenko Camaro, and the Cuda. I agree that the sound from those little 4 banger "tuner" car mufflers is like listening to a bunch of bees inside of a coffie can. Nothing will ever compare to the sound of the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. To me that is the best sound in the world. But i will say that if you have actually tricked out those little tuner cars (not like some loosers that plop one of those nasty mufflers on there ford festiva and call it a custom car) that they are pretty sweet. I just think it is a terrible way to ruin a great american car. And yes, i relise that for drifting you need to be able to reach very high RPMs and that (most) V-8's are not capable of maintaining those RPMs.

A: the best car ford eve rmade was the 2003/2004 Mustang svt cobra Terminator .. or the 1998 Mustang Saleen s351 .. its a ricer movie what else would u expect???

Q: name your favorite car out of this list of muscle cars?
67 gt 500, 70 hemi cuda, 69 charger, 69 yenko camaro/ss, 70 challenger, 70 monte carlo, 70 chevelle, 70 plymoth roadrunner, chevy nova, 72/74 gran torino, 1970 442, 73 trans am, 69 dart, 71 super bee,

A: i concur about eleanor or the yenko. I also have a particular soft spot for the chevelle. The car just says, "Badass."
