Q: How much is my 2008 Chevrolet Aveo worth?
I bought it brand new in 2008, and I was wondering if there is a website that tells you how much your car is worth for selling. It would save me a trip to the dealership. It's a sedan, RT LS model, fully loaded. Canadian value please. It has 38,503 KM on it.
A: Chuckles, let me tell ya something - The Aveo is a rebadged Daewoo made in Seoul, S. Korea. As with many Korean cars (Kia & Hyundai) they tend to have issues with resale values. Though many people proclaim they are better, you have to ask yourself, better at what? I have no idea why you want to sell it but let this be a lesson in life that you need to buy cars that have a history of low ownership costs. Right now in the U.S. the Honda Fit is #1 in lowest cost to own. Taking into consideration car price, fuel economy, insurance rates, & resale. It will provide the best bang for the buck in the long term. Now then, if you buy another Korean made car, I will spank you. Thank you for reading my rant.
Q: How much would it cost to convert my 2008 chevrolet aveo from manual locking doors to power locking doors?
I know there are conversion kits but i am not good that kind of stuff and would rather have professionals do it either at a dealership or somewhere. May also be interested in power windows. Any ideas. thanks
A: If your going to have someone else do the labor, it going to be cost prohibitive. If there was factory power locks and windows available for that year, you can find the parts in a wrecking yard. Figure 1 1/2 hours per door, times 4 times $85 -$100 per hour. I wouldn't
Q: How to remove pesky "GM" decal from side of car?
Just wondering if there are any useful suggestions to remove the silver General Motors decal (about 1 square inch per side) from the two sides of my 2008 Chevrolet Aveo.
I'm aware of the dental floss trick, but it feels like something is either keeping the decal glued or even screwed into my car, and the floss always tears after I try endlessly to remove the darn thing.
Help?
A: try heating it with a hairdrier until it is HOT to the touch, then do the dental floss thing
Q: Help!! Need mechanic opinion on possible purchase...smart a$$'s stay away.?
This is what I asked before:
I'm looking at a car to purchase which would be an awesome buy but I feel the steering wheel shake when idling. It goes completely away when I step on the gas going as little as 5mph. Is this something I should be seriously concerned about? What could it be? Could it be something that could be fixed by the dealer or my mechanic and not worried about? It's a 2008 Chevy Aveo. Thanks!
These are the non helpful answers I got with my replies to them. I hope there is someone out there that can help me. Thanks!
Answer 1
ooooooh noooooooo no Chevy
honda is ok
toyota is ok
nissan is ok
maybe is a serious problem
My reply
You know Jose....that really doesn't help or answer my question...but thanks for that....uh....effort.
Answer 2
If you're not joking, step away from the car!
We get enough posters on here who claim they are God's gift to vehicle inspectors, yet are asking what their rights are in regards to return a purchased vehicle because what they thought was a great vehicle turns out to be a POS two days later.
You are buying a Daewoo product. That should be discouraging enough right there!
My reply
umm...okay, now if I can get an answer from someone who hasn't taken a swig of the retard bottle and give me something I can use....
Who's claiming to be a God's gift....I didn't buy the car yet....I'm not that stupid. But I'd like input before I take it to my mechanic. I thought there were enough smart helpful people out there to ween you smart asses out.
By the way how is a Chevrolet Aveo, a Daewoo???
Thanks again!!!!
Wow that smart a$$ title really brought them in.
For your all information I'm a 23 year old woman making her first car purchase so sorry for not keeping up on what company bought which today. I wasn't being sarcastic when I asked why a chevy aveo is a daewoo, I was more or less curious.
Thank you luvinavril07 for explaining that to me nicely and giving an explanation on my original question.
A: a chevrolet aveo is in fact a daewoo
you know why? chevy and daewoo made a partnering deal where daewoo would build chevy some cars, and then chevy would put their names on it.
in the rest of the world, the chevy aveo is known as the daewoo kalos. chevy did not design this car, nor do they make it. it is in fact a daewoo with a chevy emblem on it. GM actually designed this car since GM owns daewoo. but its still a daewoo regardless
the steering wheel shaking a little while idling is normal. when you are driving and it shakes, that's not normal. its like a lawnmower engine. look at it when you just let it sit there, it rattles like crazy. well yank up the throttle, is it still shaking??
so yes, your chevy is a daewoo.
EDIT: this vibration is normal for inline-4 engines. Thats the engine this car has, so this slight vibration at idle is to be expected, and it is caused by secondary inbalance within the engine. if this vibration bothers you, find a car with a different kind of engine (preferably one not developed by GM)
Q: Comparing these cars?
I'm looking into buying a used car under $8000, which of these cars should I buy (if any)? Are any of these cars a "good" deal? I am really worried about gettting ripped off.
A. 2008-----Kia Rio LX--------------------$7,995--------15,771 mi
B. 2007-----Ford Focus SE-------------$7,991--------30,806 mi
C. 2005-----Hyundai Accent GLS-----$5,997--------41,429 mi
D. 2006-----Chevrolet Aveo--------------$5,995--------54,688 mi
E. 2005-----Scion xA----------------------$7,900--------56,959 mi
A: The best way to avoid being ripped off is to make sure you know the condition of the car. You must look over each car thoroughly, test drive them all, do your research to determine the price is right and have the one you like the best inspected by a certified mechanic. Then you can make an educated assessment on which car would be the best one to purchase.
Pay cash, you can't get ripped off by a bad loan if you pay cash.
Assuming that all of these cars are in the same mechanical condition (except for the obvious difference in mileage) I would buy the KIA. It's the newest it has the lowest mileage and it's in your price range. It may even have some of the factory warranty remaining.
I would not buy the Aveo or the '05 Hyundai.
