Q: 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Sport Coupe?
I'm thinking about getting the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Sport Coupe when I turn 16. I've been researching it thoroughly and so far I love it. What are your opinions on the car? Bad or good? Oh, and which color do you prefer better. Red or Yellow? lol, I can't decide... :)

A: True, this car replaced the Cavalier, which from past observations wasn't a very reliable car. The Cobalt SS is a pretty expensive car to have though. More than likely you'll have to make car payments on it, insurance will be sky high ( since you'd be 16 & a liability in a sports car ) & frankly as a driver of the roads I don't feel very safe being near teens in sports cars. My advice for you is get the cheaper version of the Cobalt which would be the LT. It looks the same as the SS, except it doesn't have all that power which no teenager needs & the LT version has 4 doors. You have to consider the payments for the car, the insurance which will have to be full coverage, taxes on the car & plates ( 2 depending on where you live ). All of these things you HAVE to consider when looking for a car. Everyone at your age wants a sports car or something that looks fast. You have no idea how much it costs to maintain neither. If your parents are going to help they probably don't want to be on the hook for $12,000. Good luck.

Q: 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt?
I'm looking into buying a 2008 Cobalt for my girlfriend so I'm wanting to know what are the repairs like and what is every ones over view on them???? What are the pros and cons???

A: I used to drive 2006-2008 Cobalts as rental cars, and I was so impressed with them I bought an '09 Cobalt SS as my daily driver. They are mechanically excellent cars - the only problems I've heard/seen with them are the brakes prematurely wearing. Keep an eye on them, though, and that's not really a problem. The Ecotec engines are very well put together. Looks wise, they're rather plain looking unless you get one of the louder colors, and as such they do not really stand out in a crowd. I view this as a distinct advantage - I like that police tend to ignore you (great for commuting where you may, um, forget what the speed limit is), and I also like that, with my SS, I surprise a lot of people with off-the-line performance. The interior is "cheap" according to reviewers, but in comparison with others in its class, I do not see their point - plastics are plastics, and in fact I am very impressed with the audio and head unit in the car.

Q: are the manual door locks on the 2008 chevrolet cobalt cable driven or not?

A: They don't have cables.....they use different sizes of rods.

Q: 2008 Ford Fusion or 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt?
Which looks better in you opinion? Which would you rather have? Which is a better car overall?

A: i dont really like either one because ive never been fond of american cars. very lousy. but id go with the ford fusion. in the past years, ford has been making some exceptional vehicles. more reliable, fuel efficient, and safer cars have been put on the roads. the ford looks better overall and isnt just a peace of plastic like the cobalt. the fusion will last you longer, its bigger in space, and safer to drive. the best option is the fusion.. 100%

Q: I had a wreck in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, and I need to know if the airbags were supposed to deploy.?
I got into a car accident with my sister. We slid off of the road, and hit a pole. The pole completely smashed into the rear passenger door. The frame was bent, and the window completely broken. I was under the impression that the airbags should have deployed and that the car should have shut off and locked up. None of this happened. I might take this to court, and this information is important. I need answers please. Nooo. That's not what I mean. Not the doors. My sister said that after cars get into wrecks like that, they lock up and won't start again until they're fixed. This one turns one, but just about every noise, beep, and alarm that can go off, does in fact go off. Don't think I'm an idiot. This has nothing really to do with me. I posted this question on behalf of my sister.

A: Yeah, Id keep that arguement out of the court room if i were you, plus nobody sues G.M. and wins, especially now that the government owns part of G.M. now. Front end colissions set off air bags, even the side impact air bags wont go off unless it's hit relivant to the front end. As far as the car locking up, NO NO NO!!!! Do you want the fire dep't to use torches, K12 saws and the jaws of life on you and your car? and if you mean by locking up that the car just shuts down and wont start or function, that doesent happen either and if it did, it's going to make future demolition derby's a living hell. Typically a car doesent know if it was in a major accident or one it could drive away from, so it will start run and function unless the damage done prohibits it from doing it's job.

Q: 2008 Chevy Cobalt Sport -- Just got it, anything special about it??? Anything i can do to it to make it faster?
In the past couple months, i puchased a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Sport. How good of a car is this, compared to the SS, and what's the difference OTHER than the supercharger or turbo, whichever. Also, is there much i can do to make it faster? I realize it's not the best car to get for racing, but i'm not into racing. I just like to go fast. If you can, just please tell me everything you know about this car. Thanks in Advance!!!

A: Well, the cobalt is a very nice vehicle, you can do the simple things that make every vehicle faster like adding a performance intake, performance filters, things like that. P.S. should have got the new camaro if you wanted speed.

Q: Which car do you think is better?? Pontiac G6 or Chevy Cobalt?
I'm looking at 2 cars to buy right now that I like.....a 2006 Pontiac G6 Sedan and a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt LT. Both white. Any thoughts on which is better?

A: Consumer Reports rates the reliability of the Pontiac G6 and Cobalt as "much worse than average." Don't buy either one. Almost anything else is a better choice.

Q: How can i find out if my Chevy Cobalt is "remote start system" available?
i'm trying to find out a way to know is my 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Sport has everything ready to use the Remote Start system. I've tried calling a couple dealerships but they dont exactly get what i'm trying to say i guess. I want the Remote Start system. Someone told me that my car might be wired for it, they just need to do a couple things to make it work completely. My Main question is how do i find that out. Is there somewhere i can look on the engine, somewhere i can look on the fuse box. Just someone please help!!!

A: I had the same problem with my truck.I called the dealership(parts dept.).They asked for my vin number(usually on the drivers side dash.look at it from outside your car looking through the wind shield.)Keep calling the dealerships until you get someone that isn't an idiot. My truck is a 95 and they looked it up in like 2 minutes after I gave them the vin number.

Q: Spoiler for a 2008 Chevy Cobalt LT?
I wanted to get a spoiler for my car but the one that comes standard on the Cobalt doesn't really stand out, I don't really want to pay a lot of money to have something that is barely noticeable. I was wondering If I would be able to get the spoiler in the picture below. I've only seen them on the coupe so I wasn't sure. Also I was planning on buying and having it installed through my local chevy dealer. Any idea how much that might cost? http://www.caraccessorysecrets.com/Chevrolet-Cobalt-Spoiler-2-door.jpg http://www.cardata.com/spoilers/images/CD_Spoilers/Chevy_Cobalt-2Dr-507N.jpg

A: what color and style do you have?. I have the cobalt SS with the high style spoiler and i don't really care for it too high for my taste if interested in a straight trade let me know.. my cobalt is the light gray metallic.. that would be great for both of us if your car is gray.

Q: Is it possible to put a Cobalt engine in a Wave?
My friend has a 2008 Pontiac Wave, it currently has the gm 1.6L inline four cylinder engine. I was wondering if it is possible, with little or no modifications to stuff the Chevrolet Cobalt SS engine in it? Thank you for any help.

A: There is an artical out about a Cobalt SS/SC swap (Modified Magazine) into an Aveio. It was a lot of work and many custom parts.

Q: Where to buy my first car?
I live in Cleveland Ohio and I want to buy a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, but there is one problem,I cannot seem to find one in the sport red tintcoat color. Anyone knows where I can buy one? It can be anywhere that is not way too far from Cleveland

A: i'm also in the process of looking for a certain car from a different year. this is what i learned from my experience so far... since the 2008 cobalt isnt made any more because that year is over, u will not find one that isn't used which means it will be extremely hard to find the exact one u are looking for. the reason being is cuz when u buy a car that is up to date for example a 2009 cobalt you can have it made to ur taste like the color, interior, tints ect... so dont get ur hopes up on finding that exact make, model and color hun unless u have a better finding one and customing making it the way u want

Q: How Tires compatibility works?
I have a set of winter tires 195 - 65 - R15 from Toyota Matrix 2004. I'd like to know if those tires can be used on my Chevrolet Cobalt 2008 tires 165 - 60 R15 195-65-R15 to be used in 165-60-R15 Thank you for any help in that matter. Ric

A: The Cobalt uses a tire sized P195/60R15 87S whose overall diameter is smaller than the P195/65R15 89S tires that would fit on a Matrix. It wouldn't be my first choice but they might fit without clearance issues. Never know until you try. The wheels are not compatible between the vehicles so you would have to get the Matrix tires dismounted then re-mounted on the Cobalt wheels.

Q: First Car and confused?
I'm 16 and it's time for my first car. I am tied up between 3 of them. 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe gls, 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt 4 dr., and 2003 Toyato Corolla. If there is any thing you can tell me about these cars ,like if you own one or did own one, or your opinions maybe even sites with reviews would really help also the saftey of these cars too. Thanks!

A: Out of the three vehicles you mentioned, I'd choose the '03 Toyota Corolla because it has the highest customer satisfaction, is reasonably priced, gets great fuel economy, and is very reliable and dependable.
