Q: Is a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu a good car for a 16 year old?
I'm a 15 year old boy turning 16 in a few months, And my parents have told me if I get good grades then they'll buy me whichever car I'd like. But i'd feel bad if they payed for the whole thing so I suggested that I pay half and then they pay half. And they Agreed. I'm sure I'd be paying for gas and all that other stuff that goes into having a car. I've been consider a lot of cars. My grandma has a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. And she said that would be the ideal car for a 16 year old. The only think I dislike about the Civics are that they are really low to the ground. I've been considering a lot of cars. I originally wanted an Suv. But There weren't any SU V's out there for me that don't kill your pocket book. I want a nice Car but an Affordable one. So I was looking into the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. There cheaper used and somewhat fuel efficient and overall they look good. My main question is that is it safe enough for a new driver like myself. please give me suggestions. We can Afford the car, I dont want a peice of crap for a first car. I go to a very exclusive school in california. and having a crappy car would ruin my reputation I'd be a laughing stock. Kids my age at this school for there 16th birthdays are getting Mercedes and Bmw. We can afford it. I just dont want to spend money on something thats not worth paying for safety wise.

A: 2008 Malibu is an excellent car. And if you look at comparisons from 2008 it's almost always recommended over every other car for 2008. Kelley Blue Book did a nice feature on family sized sedans for 08 and Malibu was #1 while Camry was 2nd to last (I believe it was the Fusion, which has since been redone). The 2008 Malibu was the North American Car of the Year. Fuel economy is very competitive. I rented a V-6 model on a round trip from Sacramento to LA so I did a good amount of City, Highway, and mountain driving. I averaged 27mpg combined. I also rented a 4 cylinder model for the same route and I got 29mpg combined. And I wasn't exactly on an economy drive during either trip. And although I've never driven one, a few friends have told me they have gotten upwards of 36mpg highway with the Malibu Hybrid. As for safety, Malibu is as safe as any other car in its segment. However, it is also more costly to fix than several other cars in its segment at least when it comes to body repair. As for reliability, Malibu is one of the many highpoints in GM's current product portfolio. If you don't mind having a basic model, Enterprise Car Sales (the same people who rent out cars) have excellent deals on LS and LT models. Unfortunately they don't typically stock LTZ models. Also, the Saturn Aura is basically the same exact car with slightly different styling cues and badging. But it's as good a car as the Malibu, it was the 2007 North American Car of the Year. For a relatively new driver I'd say it's an excellent car. In the 4 cylinder model it's powerful enough to be fun. In the V-6 model it's powerful enough to be really fun, but safe enough that your parents won't have to worry. And of course most models have all the safety things like Stabilitrak and traction control (optional on 2008, both standard on 2009). And it's a very handsome car to look at. It's definitely an eye catcher. You will definitely be able to pick it out of a crowded parking lot. It's also a very good conversation starter. Have fun picking a car, whichever one you and/or your parents decide on!

Q: 2008 Nissan Sentra or 2008 Chevrolet Malibu?
I am not sure which of the two would be best for me. I like them both but am having a tough time deciding. What are pros and cons of each.. recalls, problems, anything -Thank you

A: As much as I love Nissan---I have to say the Malibu is a better car.....These newer Sentras have had some issues---and I have to side with my peer about the transmission feeling awkward...Have you taken both cars on the highway ? I would...Also ask for insurance quotes for both models...I suggest John-Paul as a contact regarding service issues on the Nissan...He is the expert in this room.

Q: is the chevy malibu 2008 recommended?
Chevrolet Malibu owners of the 2008 model your input is greatly appreciated. any bad things about the car in general? and finally would you say it's a smart buy?

A: Malibu's generally don't have the best reliability in the world. But, all things are relative. If you can get a GREAT DEAL it might be a good buy as compared to a higher priced import. Later on, if & when it starts to give you trouble, its what you signed up for. But don't obsess about it. I drive a 94 Buick Century and they aren't known for their reliability compared to imports either but its been great for me for nearly 4 years now.

Q: Chevy Malibu 2008's price?
How much do you folks think would be the price of Chevrolet Malibu 2008 automatic transmission 4 cylinder in December 2009?,,,i am just being curious coz i cant wait for that car when i'll get my licence!! @lluviadu... dude that ain't old lady's car its winning all of the battles between altima, accord, camry...which car would you choose between these (2007 and above) yo dude the car is for my family i already have an skyline 94' modded... they are buying it coz i kinda total their lexus few months ago :(

A: 2008 malibu's seem to be selling in the $12,000 to $18,000 range. we own a 2005 malibu maxx lt and are very pleased with how chevy took a saab platform and created a quality car. we are getting up to 35mpg hwy out of our v6 malibu. if possible look for the 6 speed transmission version of the 2008 malibu. hope this helps

Q: What Makes the Chevrolet Malibu so much better then the Pontiac G6?
What Makes the Chevrolet Malibu so much better then the Pontiac G6? I have a 2008 Pontiac G6 and I wondering why people say the chevrolet malibu is so much better. They are both based on GM's Epsilon platform, the both have the same 2.4 L four cylinder and 3.6 L V6 engines (well Pontiac adds an optional 3.5 and 3.9), the front/back seats look the same the steering wheel looks the same...the only difference I notice is the dash board and exterior design.

A: That is the only difference. It's not better it's just their perception that pontiac sucks.. or w/e. It could be the styling some people like better i guess. mechanically speaking, the cars are like twins.

Q: Car alarm not working, why is that?
Hi everyone, my car alarm doesn't seem to be working. When I lock my car with the remote and then press it twice, there is an LED flashing on the dashboard indicating that it is on, but if i try to open the doot without using the remote or key or even if I kind of give a ndge to my car, the alarm doesn't start making noise. However, the panic alarm, which is a button I can press on the remote to make it sound works. Do you know what the problem is? My car is a 2008 chevrolet malibu classic. Thanks a lot

A: Seem like the horn is still working as panic alarm still working. Make sure you set your alarm mode correctly. Most car alarm mode can be change by press and hold the remote buttons for few second. Read up the alarm manual if you still have it, or else just do a trial and error by press all buttons.

Q: Which Car???
My family and i are buying a new car and we have narrowed it down to either the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu LT2 or the 2008 Accord EX, we are having trouble deciding cuz both are awesome, so either 1 of my choices, please do not give me another car out of my list cuz we have probably seen it but we only like these 2. if you dunno these cars look em up ..

A: I own a Honda Accord and I love it. I also saw a news report last night stating that right now, the 2008 Chevy Malibu beats out Honda and Toyota on gas mileage. I also think that Chevy Malibu's can take E85 ethynol gasoline, which is definetly cheaper right now at the pumps. Good luck.

Q: Which car would you buy and why?
I am looking for a 2003-2005 altima, but these cars popped up and they don't look bad. Should I seriously look into them or stick with my original altima idea. http://www.auction123.com/showroom/southeast_car_agency/2008/Chevrolet/Malibu_Classic/LS/1G1ZT58N78F114803.html?showroom_dealer=8420&wait=false http://www.auction123.com/showroom/southeast_car_agency/2007/Nissan/Sentra/2_0/3N1AB61E17L649690.html?showroom_dealer=8420&wait=false My budget is under 10,000.

A: yes i think you should

Q: Tips to avoid car getting stolen?
Hi everyone, I live in an apartment complex where a lot of cars get broken into or stolen. My parking spot is well lighted. I will be gone for 3 weeks so I want to know what is the best way to avoid having my car getting stolen. I read that cars either get broken into and then stolen or they get towed by robbers. I have a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Classic with an alarm and Pass Key III. I already make sure I don't leave anything inside that people can see. Carry both sets of keys on me as well as registration and insurance. Always make sure windows and doors are locked. Title is hidden at home. I always use my parking brakes. My parking space is against a wall in the front. Should I drive into the parking space or back up into the parking space? What can I do to avoid getting my car stolen? Thanks for your help!!!

A: Can you leave it inside? What about building a small brick wall around it? How about you gut the whole interior and take just a front wheel off? If you are still on edge, tell me where the car is and I'll look after it for you!

Q: Why do the same model cars from the same manufacturer have different names in different parts of the world?
for example chevrolet has in america the impala and malibu 2008, but in the middle east theres caprice and lumina. is the impala called caprice in middle east and malibu is lumina or chevrolet just has different cars for different regions. if thats the case why don't they just have a ll car models sold every where. I noticed this with other companies besides chevrolet.

A: It's all about language. There is a true story that happened years ago to Chevorlet. They marketed the Nova in Spanish speaking countries and weren't able to sell that model car until someone figured out that nova means no go in Spanish. The name was changed and the car starting selling

Q: Chevrolet Monte Carlo production to end in June?
General Motors has confirmed production of its Monte Carlo coupe will end early this summer. The last orders will be taken in early May, and assembly at Canada's Oshawa plant will stop on June 20th. Thanks to a model update and new V8 engine, sales of the front-wheel-drive Monte Carlo were up slightly in 2006, but fell significantly early this year (down 60 percent in January). GM expects the 2008 Malibu to cut into potential Monte Carlo sales further, making now a good time to axe the coupe. While GM hasn't commented on the future of the nameplate, product chief Bob Lutz said in March GM's new rear-wheel-drive Zeta platform would be used for a new Monte Carlo, along with the upcoming Camaro, Impala, GTO, and Buick Statesman (now believed to be on hold). At the time, Lutz also said a new El Camino was possible — a proposal that is gaining steam, according to recent reports. http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-monte-carlo-production-to-end.html

A: they are just stopping production so they can change over the plant from the w-body to the new zeta platform. the large coupe will be built off that platform once everything is back up and running. the new platform is rwd again also.

Q: Misfire on a 2002 chevy malibu?
I have a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu with a 3.1L V6. it has 97,000 miles on it and runs great until now. When im cruiseing on the interstate at about 65mph it misfire a little bit. it acually just started to happen when im cruesing at almost any speed. i dont feel it at all when im accelerating or decelerating. i changed the plugs and wires in november 2007 then it started doing it in spring 2008 so i changed the plugs in june 2008 and still does it. Do u think it could be faulty wires?

A: no it's not your wires its probably you catalytic converter they get plugged and wont allow the exhaust out fast enough

Q: Did Chevrolet come up with their own award?
The new Malibu has been named "2008 North American Car of The Year" I never heard of this award before.

A: no but it would not surprise me one bit if they did
