Q: How do I protect our company from collections risks if Chrysler goes on Chapter 11?
Rumor - Chrysler might file for Chapter 11 next week. I am in charge of credit and collection for our company. We have a lot of customers who are direct suppliers for Chrysler. What would you do as Collections Manager to protect your company from Chrysler's risk?
A: Isn't it a bit late to be asking this question?
I have been saying the "Big 3" esp GM and Chrysler were in all probability were going to end up that way since the first bailout in 2008.
Your company should have had a risk manager on board a long time ago.
Q: How would the bankruptcy of Chrysler affect its car sales?
Would dealer's sell Chrysler for more money? Less money? Or would the bankruptcy not affect sales at all?
A: The bankruptcy will affect volume, that's for sure. Buyers are going to be less likely to purchase a vehicle from a company that is under restructure.
That being said, Chrysler will still need to turn a profit in order to survive. They will indeed have to sell above cost to make any profit at all. The common theme on this forum seems to be: "They'll chop prices like crazy because they're going under". Not true on both issues. Filing for bankruptcy does not mean Chrysler is going under and shutting the doors. It also goes right back to what I mentioned earlier... they must turn a profit in order to survive. They must cut costs, reduce labor costs, etc in order to even think about a profit. It will either save them or just delay the inevitable. My personal opinion is that they are in too much hot water in order to survive.
I would expect the same incentives you see now. They still have to incent people to walk through the door.
Q: How many gallons does a 2006 chrysler pacifica get?
We are planning on driving to vegas and I was wondering if anybody knows how many gallons a chrysler pacifica get so we could see how far we could go on a full tank. If anybody knows please let me know. Thanks.
A: They're rated at 16 city and 23 highway, but it all really depends on your driving habits and what you're carrying in the car. Plus, not all get the exact same mileage.
If you have the car loaded down and full of people, it will get lower fuel mileage than the 23 mpg with normal driving. If it's just 2 of you and a couple of light suitcases, then it will likely be closer to the 23 with normal driving.
A few things to do to get better fuel economy are:
Drive the speed limit instead of going a little bit over.
Use the cruise control while on the highway, this will help keep the speed constant instead of speeding up or slowing down even just a little bit.
Accelerate slowly and start braking earlier when coming to a stop.
Q: What is the difference between a Chrysler crossfire base model and the limited version?
Hi I'm buying a Chrysler crossfire and I want to know the differeces between the base and the limited. I know that the limited has a silver trim around the windsheild and can come in convertable, but besides that what is there?
A: The Base IS the Limited, but only in the first year (2004). In this year, the seats are leather, and you can choose either automatic or 6-spd; also some of the colors are limited.
In 2005 and on, the base has cloth seats, and a few other things that in the limited and SRT6 come standard. Other differences are that you can have a convertible, or the SRT version (aka: supercharged, or turbo); colors are also added.
The silver trim is pretty much standard on limited and SRT6 and on all the 2004 models (though I have to admit that a solid black Crossfire looks really cool).
If you are looking at Crossfires, please don't bother heading to a dealership until you've done all your homework and are ready to bargain; the prices of these cars have dropped like stones, and you can find really nice deals and really well-taken care of cars through Crossfire forums (crossfireforum.org is a great place to start). Plus a lot of these car owners will customize their cars, as well as give out tons of helpful information.
Q: Why is Chrysler sitting at the free money trough with Ford and GM?
Ford and GM are publicly traded companies and their stock is subject to impact average Americans and their retirement plans. I don't agree with a bail out, but I see why they are at the table begging. I can't believe no Senator or Representative in either of these trips to Washington asked Chrysler why they were there also. They are a private firm held by a private company that has plenty of money. If they need money shouldn't they just ask the parent company for it? Are we really going to give a few billion dollars to a hand full of guys that already have a few billion dollars in the bank?
A: From the Wall Street Journal:
Lawmakers last week questioned Chrysler Chief Executive Robert Nardelli on Cerberus's commitment to the company. In one exchange with Mr. Nardelli, Sen. Robert Corker (R., Tenn.) criticized the firm. "Cerberus has cash, lots of cash, that it is unwilling to put into this company," Sen. Corker said.
I'm not sure if Senator Corker was the only one to actually ask the question (I was at work, and am relying on media reports), but plenty of others are objecting to Chrysler getting money. In fact, it's bipartisan opposition:
If the Senate fails to pass a measure to aid the industry, the House will not act.
That would be fine with Rep. Steve Kagen, D-Appleton. He opposes providing money to Chrysler, which is owned by Cerberus Capital Management LP.
Admittedly, Rep. Kagen's opposition sounds personal: Another of Cerberus' companies closed paper mills in his district, but refuses to sell the facilities to investors who want to have a go at running them. But he's urged other Members of Congress not to give Chrysler any money at all.
It looks like there are Congresscritters who support giving GM and Ford help that object to giving Chrysler help. Whether they're enough to change the outcome remains to be seen.
Q: How to install a parking sensor in a chrysler grand voyager?
Have got a 2003 registered Chrysler Grand voyager and wants to install parking sensors in it. Any thoughts? Been told by a professional that i need spacers to angle the sensors properly in this car because of the sloping bumpers?
A: Yes,the sensors should be mounted as vertical as possible to get the full potential from them.
Q: How do I change my language settings in my chrysler pt cruiser?
I recently bought a '08 chrysler pt cruiser (pacific coast edition) and when i bought it the language settings were in german. I was wondering how to change that language into english. Could anyone help? Thanks.
A: Go to the menu (assuming it's a navigation system) and click on language. Or read your manual...and they'll tell you how to do it. Congratulations on your purchase, I hope you have a warranty.
Q: What do you think about the possibility of the end of the Chrysler brand?
Fiat is planning to stop selling cars under the Chrysler brand if the italian company buys Chrysler LLC. What do you think about it?
A: I really don,t think that will happen...If it does then the value of myclassic mopar would surely go up!!!
Q: So Chrysler is gone for good they are going bankrup right?
So That means there going to be nomore Durango, Ram 1500 and Chrysler 300 ?,
That is what they get for building cars that break down alot!
Bye Chrysler for good Let Party!
A: Just because they went bankrupt doesn't mean they are going out of business. I highly doubt they would go out of business. Just expect them to drop there worst sellers off the product line and a lot of layoffs.
Q: How much is the chrysler green sheet discount?
We have friends who work for Chrysler and they offered to help us get a new car through their employee discount program. Is it really a good deal? I know buying brand new is super expensive and I am wondering if we are better off buying something slightly used.
A: I am currently in the process of buying a new car and using the green sheet discount because my grandmother worked for Chrysler. The amount of the discount depends on the vehicle. I bought a dodge stratus in 2004 and saved about $1000 with the discount. I am now buying a Jeep Patriot and will save $1700. If you call or go to a dealership they can tell you how much the discount will be without the number from your friend.
Q: How type of rims can I use on my 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan?
We are looking for a set of 4 rims for my 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan, and I cant seem to find exactly what I can use. We need the rims to be 16" x 6.5" (6"). We were told we can't use steel rims is that true? We were also told you can use Dodge stratus rims, is that correct as well? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, these rims are so hard to find!
A: The stock rims were steel so you can use steel rims. The Dodge Stratus sedan is the sister car to the Sebring so the wheels are interchangable. I suggest giving the local salvage yards a call and if they don't have them call Greenleaf or LKQ (they also have websites). Good luck.
Q: What are the manufacturing start and end dates on the Chrysler Corporation 413 CID Engine?
In other words, when did Chrysler first start manufacturing this engine and when did they stop manufacturing it?
A: Lex Luthor is partly correct, 1959 is the correct start date but on June 1, 1963 the 413 acquired a larger bore and became the 426 wedge engine. Check http://www.allpar.com/, click engines, scroll down until you come to 413 and read on.
Q: How do you replace the interior door handle on a chrysler sebring?
I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring and the driver side interior door handle doesn't work anymore. When I pull on it nothing happens. Does anyone know how to replace it or where I can find instructions on how to replace it.
A: The problem is more likely with the linkage inside the door than the handle itself. Could be as simple as broken retainer at one of the pivot points. Easy to fix once you get the door panel off, try checking with your local auto parts stores as some carry repair manuals that will give you step by step details to remove the panel.
Q: What is the best looking, most reliable vehicle made by chrysler?
What vehicle made by chrysler do you think is best? It needs to be big enough for me, my husband, and 1 small dog, and 1 big dog. Thanks
do you think the pacifica fully loaded with everything they offer or the jeep grand cherokee larado 2wd v8 with sunroof, heated leather seats, and rear back up cam, and sound package is better?
A: The best looking is a personal preference, so there really is no correct answer. The most reliable is the Dodge Grand Caravan, it's been the most reliable/ longest running van in automobile history.
According to consumer reports, no Chrysler product has been on the most reliable list for at least 2 years.
My personal preference for best looking is the New Challenger.
Q: What Types of Changes is Chrysler Planning To Its Vehicle Line Up?
When you look at Ford and GM's plans for the future, they seem to be moving quickly towards fewer, more fuel efficient models. Such as cutting out vehicle models no one is buying, changing their more successful models so that they are more fuel efficient, and introducing new some smaller, cheaper cars.
However, I can't seem to find any information about Chrysler's plans for their lineup. Is there any information about new cars they are coming out with or changes to their existing models to make them more appealing?
A: Chrysler is selling to FIat so that they can have smaller more fuel efficient vehicles to sell. They will rebadge Fiats as Chryslers and sell them. Fiats may also be sold at Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealerships. Unknown just how things will work out. I have gone to Fiats web site and they have some interesting cars.
