Q: General Value of a 1966 Dodge Charger 6000 original miles?
My step dad currently has a 1966 Dodge Charger in very good condition. No rust, it has a 318 poly engine and has 6000 original miles on it. The car is the way it was in 1966 everything is clean and it runs like a champ. I was wondering how much it might be valued at.
A: right now it wont bring that you might think it would, because the ones with big blocks aren't selling that good,id say around 10-12 thousand maybe a little more, right now is a bad time to price out or try to sell it,i seen a 70 charger bring around 14 thousand yesterday at the car sale and it was in mint condition and was a big block car, good luck.
Q: My 1966 Dodge Charger seems to have trouble firing when I step on it...?
I have a 1966 Dodge Charger with a 440 bored 30 over. It has a 870cfm Holley Street Avenger carb on it. Compression is about 10:1 and it is tuned to about 10 below top dead center (recommended by the engine builder). I am having some trouble at times when I try to really step on it. It seems like it isn't firing the best it could be and almost seems "bogged" down every now and then (some times are better than others it seems). I was wondering if anyone had any tips. Do I possibly need some high performance spark plugs? I upgraded the spark plug wires not too long ago so I think those are fine. Could it be the air to fuel ratio? I can try to adjust my floats on the carb...Not too sure where to start at this point. Any suggestions????
oh, I also run 93 octane which seems to be fine, no knocking or anything with it...
Thanks!
Erik
A: you do need to run a pretty hot plug in that one,i own a 440 that is built a little and i run a real hot plug in it ,i also run electronic ignition in it which helps to burn the gas a lot better, your dumping a lot of gas in to that engine, make sure you have the correct timing and the right plug in it to burn what your dumping in the engine,if you don't it will have whats known as a dead spot in it when you get on it real hard, also check the float level on your carburetor, good luck.
Q: I have a 1966 dodge dart and someone told me not to run unleaded in it but to use leaded gas are they right?
it is a 1966 dodge dart 270 model with a 225 charger slant six it has an automatic transmission (like that makes any difference) and hasn't bean run in 10 years and i recently took it out of the barn and got it to fire up and someone warned me that it would eat up the lubrication in the cylinders if i kept running it with unleaded and so i have parked it for now, ALSO if you have any idea where i can get ahold of some leaded gas if this is the case please let me know
A: you can run unleaded in it and it wont hurt a thing on it,all unleaded does is not create the build up on the valves like the older engines would get,you can add a fuel additive to it to boost the octane rating if you want to and that wont hurt it either ,but it really isn't necessary, run unleaded in it,it wont hurt it,good luck.
Q: what does non numbers matching car mean/ ?
t does it mean when you are reading about a historical car you want to buy and the listing states it is a non numbers matching car. It says this for a 1966 dodge charger I am interested in
A: the serial #of the car &motor do not match some one has changed motors in it . that will reduce what the car is worth compared to #matching . it will really make a difference if for instance it came with a 318 &some one but a 440 in which wasnt even made in 66
Q: What car should I buy?
Hey guys,
I've always been into muscle cars but I need a sporty every day driver. I'm not too educated on the choices out there since I've always paid most attention to old muscle cars (own a 1966 dodge charger). I have a few things I would like in the car:
2dr Coupe
3.0L or greater (around 300HP would be nice)
Maybe AWD option (live in chicago)
Maybe convertible option
somewhat ok gas mileage >20mpg
I'd like to spend less than $22,000
I prefer to buy a used car with 50,000 miles or less
I had looked online and found a few that are pretty nice:
Infiniti G35 coupe
Nissan 350Z
Mercedes CLK500
Anyone have any opinions or heard anything good/bad about these cars?
Also, does anyone have any other models that you suggest??? I don't want to overlook anything! I'm not opposed to any make or model, I have an open mind about this. I trust your opinions way more than a dealer!
Thanks!
Erik
A: The 350z would be a good choice. You can easily find one under 22,000, and if you look for a 2007-2008, it will be noticeably quicker than the other 2 you listed.
As for models, I would look at an Enthusiast trim or above, as it comes with an LSD and traction control which would be handy in chicago's winters.
Engine-
3.5L making 306 hp/ 268 torque. (2007-2008)
3.5L making 300hp/260 torque (2006)
3.5L making 287hp/274 torque (2003-2005)
Comes in convertible, gas mileage within your range, etc. However, the 350z only seats two and doesn't come in an AWD option.
The G35 you could also easily find within your price range, and can seat 4.
The engines are the same between the 350z and G35, although the Z will be slightly quicker due to a 300# weight advantage across the years. The coupe only comes in RWD but if you decide to go with the sedan, it does have a AWD option.
There is no convertible for the G35 however, but there is one that just came out for the G37, and it's a hardtop convertible which is cool. (a little out of the price range though).
Now, I don't know much about Mercedes, I'll be honest. However, the CLK500 is the only car with a V8, but it's acceleration seems to be right in between the 350 and the G35. It looks like it has the convertible, 5.0L engine, 300+ hp/torque; but I'm not sure about the AWD option or how good the gas milage is on that V8. Maybe someone else that knows that car can chime in.
Hope this helps.
