Q: 69 charger running rich Tuning?
i got my carb tuned on my charger last fall when it was cooler and now it is running rich and is really hesitating when i try to accelerate. do i need to change the jets again or what? n e 1 know what jets to use? i'm down here in North Carolina and it's a 1969 dodge charger 383 w/ 727 tf, it has an electric choke 650cfm holly carb. i dont have to kind of money to spend on a a/f gauge so i am trying to see if any one can tell me the proper size. Thanks. i guess i didnt explain that right. it is using alot more gas than usual, and is all around more sluggish not only right when i hit the throttle. it hasnt been sitting too long about 3 months (flat tire and no money) and the carb is only about 7-8 months old. i think it is out of tune b/c it was tuned more towards winter with denser air and now the air is less dense (summer).

A: Almost sounds like the accelerator pump to me. There is a diaphragm between the bowl and the throttle housing,or on the bottom of the bowl, that squirts fuel into the carb when you push the throttle. Open the choke and look down the throat of the carb. Give the throttle a push open and you should see fuel squirting out via two streams. If they aren't there or just dribble out, that diaphragm is shot. That is part of a rebuild kit, but it may be sold separately.

Q: How do I modify my '69 Dodge Charger "the General Lee" to jump cars WITHOUT breaking apart on landing?
This is the 4th. time I had to re-weld the body, replace the suspension/tires, replace the axle and fix both the oil and transmission pan! Whoo! I like how you think with the truck frame under the body. maybe maybe.

A: Put the unibody on a Ramcharger frame with 44" tires. That's your only chance.

Q: cross jetting carb on a 69 dodge charger?
can i cross jet the primaries on my 383 mag. with a 600 cfm holley and a purple cam. i want to run a 64 and a 67. anyone benefit from cross jetting?

A: First of all tuning is much more than changing Jets and Cams. What RPM are you trying to achieve best results. You may need a couple set of Plugs and Try numerous sets. Remember the spark plugs are the best way to tell how lean or rich it is. The accelerator pump cams deliver different results as to how much fuel and how quickly it squirts the fuel in. You can adjust the cam by changing the gap and then trying to match that to a ramp that you like. Drag Racing, Street Racing and Roadcourse may require you to have several different setups for your vehicle.

A: best bet is just to match the one you removed from the car. Should be a part # to cross reference if needed. You can always go to a charger forum to see if anyone can help you from there. good luck....
