Q: Why Ford even dares to use the Taurus name again, when previous models were so troublesome?
It's like naming again a boat "Titanic", a military operation "Pigs Bay", a zeppelin "Hindenburg", a Ford car "Edsel", a US president "Nixon".
How Ford expects to get out of near bankruptcy with thing like this?
A: They had a good run with the early Taurus, but bombed with it's replacement the 500. The thinking was that they should try to recapture the car's original market.
Q: What brand Fuel does FORD require to be used in a 05 Mustang?
On many occasions the fuel gauge does not operate. Too to the dealer and they replaced the sending unit. All work fine for 6 months that problem returned.
Dealer informed problem was caused by cheap gas and not covered under warranty. I used ARCO.
This is the last Ford I will ever own.
A: According to this article on Ford's website, Ford recommend BP. Still, I would try to escalate their decision not to cover this under warranty claiming cheap gas. That to me sounds like a crock. Ford may recommend the use of BP, but may not base coverage of warranty issues on that recommendation.

Q: I have a 65 ford f100 with 3 speed manual, How do I make it Automatic?
I have a 65 ford f100 with 3 speed manual transmission and a 352 V8 engine. What automatic transmission do I need that will fit on the 352 engine with out modifications?
A: There is no way to do this without modifications. That is a big job and if you are not an experienced mechanic i would not attempt it-this involves fabrication of drive shafts, changing and moving crossmembers and mounts and matching parts that that only an expert can know how to do. If you have a truck just like yours with an auto trans it could be done by someone with good mechanical ability, otherwise dont attempt it or you will wind up spending a very large amount of $$$.
Q: How much does a Ford Flex cost to manufacture?
Working on a school project and am trying to find the cost to manufacture vehicles. I wanted to use the Ford Flex in my example. Can anyone help?
A: Well, this doesn't help you to the extent you want, but every smart business will make a profit on their product, so you can assume a $28000 Flex, which is about the starting price I believe, will make at least a few thousand, or possibly more. Then as you add more options, Ford is making a profit off simply a heated seat add-on or back up camera.
Q: What are some cheap ways to add horsepower to a 1995 Ford countour?
I have a 1995 Ford Contour and I'm looking for a few cheap ways to add a few more horses under the hood... any ideas?
A: Trade it in for a Mustang ...
naw, sorry, I needed a smartass answer there.
You can look for a real cold air intakes (not those cheap hot-air intakes that sit under the hood) ...
exhaust work on those really bring the engine to life,
upgraded plugs, wires, and even coils and ignition system should help some, even on a stock engine,
and don't forget underdrive pulleys those are only somewhat good, the fact that they turn the water pump slower has always kept me from using them.
**edit**
K&N Air Filters do NOT add 30 - 40 horsepower, the most gain I've ever seen from a K&N Air Filter on the Dyno was 19 horsepower, that was going from an extremely dirty stock paper filter to a new, clean K&N.
Also, changing tire size does not increase your horsepower, it just increases your available leverage between your spindle and the ground - a smaller tiresize will in effect make the car feel more powerful, but it won't actually be more powerful. If trying to run smaller tires, be aware that it will A) look bad, B) change your speedometer/odometer readings, C) lower your fuel mileage (As will almost all upgrades) and D) mess with your ABS sensors, unless you change all 4 tires. On fords, having different size tires front to rear will cause your traction control to have a heart attack and will truly limit your ability to accelerate.
Q: Are there any new Ford products besides a minivan that seat seven people?
I am looking for a Ford vehicle that seats seven people, but not a minivan. Are there any new vehicles besides large SUVs (like the Explorer or Taurus X) that can seat seven? I would like to have the vehicle get at least decent gas mileage.
Also, I am looking for something that is not really expensive.
A: Yes, there is the new FLEX that you might be interested in.In the area I am in they are selling before they hit the ground from the truck.
Q: How do I find mileage estimates for Ford Super Duty Trucks?
How do I find mileage estimates for Ford Super Duty Trucks? Since they aren't tested by the EPA, they don't seem to be published anywhere. Is Ford saying they don't care about the mileage on their heavier trucks?
A: They are not regulated and don't count against the fleet average if over 6,000 lbs. So they don't publish the results. I'm sure you can find some real world numbers online or asking people who have one.
Q: Is there an effective way to refit or convert a 2002 Ford Explorer for better mileage & lower gas consumption?
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer & a 1986 Mustang. They get about the same, pitiful mileage of about 14mpg. I can't afford a new car/hybrid. Is there anyway to get better mileage out of either other than the basics...tire inflation, oil & filter replacements, etc. And...unfortunately, a bicycle won't take me where I need to go. Are hydrogen or water conversion kits really effective & would either work for me? Thanks for any suggestions.
A: 14 in a 2002 Explorer? Must be a lot of city driving.
Step one would be a new fuel filter, air filter, and spark plug change if not done within last 30,000 miles or so and oil in last 5,000 miles as most neglect this and eats the fuel mileage hard.
make sure air pressure is at 35psi and be easy on the gas is about the only real proven fuel economy answers.
The water conversions still have the jury out on them.. some swear by them, some say it doesn't work as claimed for the money spent to buy and install the system (as the water has to be metered just so or you can explode a engine)
And what I read is from certified techs... not the people selling these systems on the side
Q: Why has the paint come off my Ford badge?
I have a Ford Ka, and I recently noticed that the blue paint had come off the Ford logo badge on the boot, with a little bit of a trace left. It literally seemed to happen overnight! Does anyone know how it could have happened?
And does anyone know how I can get it fixed? Do I have to buy a new badge or can it be re-sprayed? How much will it cost?
Thanks.
A: Not to sure about the new ford cars, but in the past the back of the badge was painted blue. Some times the paint can peel off resulting in it looking very tatty.
You have two options:- Buy a new badge from ford (£10), or re-paint the badge your self. One advantage of re-painting the badge is that you don't have to paint it the same blue colour. You could for example paint it the same colour as your car.
You will need to remove the badge from the car, my advice is to try and twist the badge, do this clockwise then counter clockwise. Eventually the glue behind the badge will brake and the badge can be removed. Clean off the old paint 600 grade wet and dry on a flat surface, then paint it with some paint from halfords etc.
Ja.

Q: What other models of Ford products will use the same alternator as the Marquis?
I need an alternator for my 98 Marquis. I want to get one from a salvage yard but they do not have this particular car in inventory. I know other Ford product must have the same alternator but how can I find out which ones.
A: Try looking up your car and engine combination at car-part. They will provide interchange information.

You might find a another salvage yard in your area that has one too.
