Q: My keys are stuck in the ignition of my 07 ford ranger?
I have just started drving. I know there is nothing wrong with it but Im done. the truck will start and i can do everything but take out the keys. When I try a red light pops up on the dash of a car with a padlock. Please help.

A: either try that little latch on the steering wheel right about the ignition, if that doesn't work try turning the steering wheel, then try to pull it out

Q: is the cd player covered under warranty for an '07 ford ranger?
today i got in my truck and went to turn off my radio and noticed my volume knob wasnt working is also turns it on and off so kinda need it.. my truck is still under warranty and my booklet says bumper to bumper..does that include the cd player?

A: I'm a mechanic at a Ford dealer and I can tell you as a fact that the CD play is covered for 3 year or 36,000 miles from date of purchase as long as there is no reason the believe the customer broke the radio.

Q: I need to get new brakes put on my 07 ford ranger. Should I buy Napa/Autozone parts or Ford parts?
i know a mechanic that will do it for cost. I am just wondering if the ford parts will last longer then the Napa/Autozone

A: I completely disagree with get what you pay for with maintenance items like brake pads, alternators, starters, brake parts, etc etc. In fact, a lot of the starters and alternators boast better than OEM durability because of the parts they use. While you occasionally get the alternator that doesnt work out of the box, car makers have that problem after theyve shipped cars to lots. Seen it. It happens, no knocks to ford-but OEM is just overpriced. If you want internal engine parts, you can get aftermarket (better performance and quality), and often times cheaper. Autozone carries melling, seal power, comp cams, etc. This is not lower quality at all, and are often OEM themselves. If you choose to buy off brand, then you are taking your chances, but buying quality parts at cheaper than OEM prices is not unheard of. Get some advice from your mechanic, if he's worth his weight he will share some parts advice. Where do you think OEM gets their stuff? Ford doesn't make any of that stuff. All they do is an engine and trans design, and then assemble their cars on the line. Dana/Spicer, corperate, new process all use timken bearings, and autozone sells these at cheaper prices than most. About the only thing I wouldn't buy from an auto parts store is u-joints, batteries, and anything off brand (the black and yellow boxes with writing and no pictures) I mean, if you can get autozones best battery for $100, and wal-marts best battery for $75, and Ford's best battery for $120, what would you do? They are all unreliable lead-acid batteries, they all last about the same amount of time- of course you get the cheaper one, because besides the price, there is no difference. Everyone offers a minimum warranty or its a free replacement, and its about the same for every battery, because that is the known expected lifetime. Dont listen to dealer garbage.

Q: whats the biggest size tire i can get on a 07 ford ranger without a lift?


A: without a lift or fiberglass fenders 33's will fit but they will rub on the fenders and on the lower plastic thing below the metal part of the bumper. 31's will fit no problem without a lift. you can crank the torsion bars up to accomidate 33's but it would be alot better if you just bought a lift spindle. theyre only about 400-500 and it'll take you about 30 minutes per side to do it yourself in your driveway, with basic tools...if you put fiberglass fenders in the front 33's will fit no problem at all, 35's will fit but you'll need about 3"-4" of lift for that, and definitely need to re-gear the axle. so 31's........no problem at all 33's............crank torsion bars/spindles/fiberglass.......you can do one or all (recommend re-gearing to 4.10) 35's....lift (longtravel suspension), fiberglass, regearing

Q: Keep the Ford Ranger Edge or buy the 06-07 Mitsubishi Eclipse?
I have a nice 2001 Ford Ranger Edge 5 spd 6cyl. I like my truck but i loooove the new body style of the Mitsubishi Eclipse 06 -07 and up. I always wanted one. I can only afford around 10,000. i found several used ones online with low miles . I am mainly getting the car for looks alone. I love the way it looks. Just trying to decide is it worth giving up my reliable truck. i am a single guy with no family or kids.

A: well me personally i'd keep the truck, even though im more of the full size truck type but a small truck is better than nothing, i'd keep the truck because it does get good mileage since its a 5 speed 6 cylinder in a small truck, also you have the truck if you need to haul or tow anything around, if you needed to do that you had to get a friend to help if you have the eclipse, i love my chevy silverado 4x4 Z-71 5.7 litre, if you can afford it maybe you could keep the truck and get the eclipse but im assuming you'd need the truck as a trade in, but its all up to you, if you've never used the truck for towing or hauling then its just up to you, personally i'd keep the ranger

A: my experiences with ford tell me nothing is easy to do on them. Ford does it so you have to bring it in. Now Im not saying you can't do it, It just won't be in a convinent place. Just crawl under the truck and look under the engine. You should see it somewhere down there.

A: The ones that came on it fit best and don't cost anything since you already have them.

Q: i have a ford ranger 2007 model and the timing belt has snapped how much damage has it done to the engine.?
I was driving along the road and the belt went the engine is a 2.5 tdci 07 model 72000 miles on the clock how much to repair ruff?.

A: I will support Bob and Sonny responses as they are both correct. However you have a timing chain in that motor not a belt. As long as you keep fresh oil in that car you shouldnt have any problems out of the timing chain. Ford motors wont self desruct when the timing chain breaks as some foreign models do. Just to be safe I would advise you to inspect other key components of your engine while your in there changing the timing chain. Once you do that you should be good to go.

Q: Not sure what to get for my truck.?
I have an 07 Ford Ranger Sport 2WD. I finally saw that Fabtech makes lift kits for them. Are there any other makers out there that are better for my truck? And how much would it cost to change my truck to 4WD? And how high could I go without having to buy much bigger tires? I got such a good deal on this truck that I drove it off the lot without actually shopping around, so i didn't exactly get to choose what I specifically wanted.

A: Lift kits are cool, but your truck is designed for the rise and suspension it has. To modify it into a 4x4, would be cheaper to trade in and get another truck. prices for that type of work are extreme, a lot of work and time involved. you would (guess) be looking in the neighborhood of approximately 4 - 5,000 in parts and labor alone, not to mention modifications to your chassis system, which that cost could also be high (guess) 500 - 3,000, depending on what they would have to do. you would be better of trading in for the one you are trying to make, it will be cheaper in the long run, and will come from the factory as 4x4 which is always better than modification. A: as based on your self-confessed description, i find you very interesting one. for me, every girl has its own typical making of the ideal man and you're one. in that case, there can be girls who likes their man to be jealous as it means that they case for their partner and the other way they don't want as this may sometimes create discomforts to whatever relationship you have. but its a good thing that you have sense of humor as this factor is now way off to mostly males, this a great asset for me that a girl is looking for a partner. your characteristics are good enough for someone to like and even love you... just remember to be always yourself and be positive. you're extra unique and i know you know that. good luck for the prospect. id love to hear from you friend...
