Q: Help with the head unit and base system on a '69 mustang?
A guy I've been seeing has a '69 mustang, and I need to know a few things about getting him a head unit or base system for Christmas please, if you could help.
Some main points are the average cost of either, how easy the installation is, and any additional information you could provide.
A: The trouble is that installing a new audio system in an older car requires some alteration to the vehicle interior. A typical owner of a '69 Mustang would want to keep the interior as close as possible to factory condition. Before buying anything, you'll want to be certain that he's willing to make permanent changes to his classic car.
His vehicle most likely came with a "shaft" style AM radio, and a single speaker mounted in the middle of the dash. Your first technical problem will be the fact that there's no such thing as a "shaft" CD player. To install an after-market CD player in the factory radio location, the dash opening would have to be cut out. Usually, suggesting such a thing to a '69 Mustang owner provokes a violent reaction. Also, installing a "stereo" head unit requires at least two speakers, while his vehicle has only one. Adding more speakers usually means cutting new mounting locations into the dash, doors, and/or rear deck.
If you were buying a sound system for a more modern vehicle, it would be a different story; but I'd suggest thinking of a different Christmas gift. For his Mustang, if he wants a sound system upgrade, he really needs to be involved in planning the system and selecting the components. Any audio installation in a vehicle that old would be considered a "custom" installation, so he'd also want to consult with an audio installation shop that specializes in that kind of job.
Q: How much is a 69' Ford Mustang Gas cap worth?
I found a old Ford Mustang gas cap in my Dads Garage its for a 69 Mustang im not if its worth anything today but if anyone has any info on it, That would be major help. :D

Q: Replacing the Floor pan on a 69 Mustang?
What does it take to replace a floor pan on a 69 Mustang. I have a 69 Fastie lined up but it needs a new floor pan. What would it take to replace it? Is it just a bolt in operation or does it need to be welded.
A: This is a unibody car with no frame, in fact, the floor pans are a major part of the frame structure and therefore have to be welded in correctly to make the whole unit stable and safe..
Q: Easiest way to get a three point seatbelt in a 69 Mustang?
Restoring my grandpa's old Mustang and I'm down to making it safer now. Ran into a few problems with putting in the seat belts, mainly getting them bolted down and through the floor..
Any suggestions?
A: they came with lap belts, so the holes are there, you just need the shoulder strap and may have to install a roll bar..
Q: Who would win in a race between a 69 mustang and a 72 baracuda?
Me and my boyfriend are having an argument on which car would win in a race. I think the mustang would win but he thinks the baracuda will win. Help him understand that the mustang would win over his stupid little baracuda!!!
A: Mustang Mach with 428 CJ 0-60- 5.7sec 1/4 mile 13.9 103
1972 Barracuda-0-60 8.5 sec 1/4 mile 16 sec

I am planning on getting a 69 and want to put a 429 cj engine on it where could I find one cheap, doesn't have to be in mint condition, just good enough for a regular everyday person to fix up
A: You may be able to find a 460 or a standard 429 -both with a four barrel - but the odds of finding a 429 Cobra Jet for cheap are slim and none.

Q: How much do you guess a '69 Mustang in pretty decent condition would cost me?
By "pretty decent condition" I just mean it runs pretty well, no major problems.
Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
A: I got a '96 candy apple red convertible with the 4.6 liter sitting in my garage right now, but it's not for sale.
I'll let you drive it though.
It's a monster Cassie..
But considering the classic nature of the model, I agree with the first answer, your looking at an average of about $7500.
Bit more for the convertible.
(God, I sound like a salesman)
For the bare-roots minimum, about $3000 - $4000.
But I've no doubts you could bring that price down considerably using what's available to you to your full advantage, if you know what I mean..
Q: what color should I paint my '69 mustang?
I just bought a '69 mustang and I have no idea what color to paint it, any ideas?
A: The original color.
Q: What is the best way to store a dash pad out of a 69 Mustang?
So it doesn't dry out or crack while you're restoring your car. Is there anything you put on it?
A: Wipe it down with ArmorAll (sp?). It has plasticizers which will nourish the plastic and keep it from drying out. Then cover it, of course, so dust & dirt don't settle on it.
Q: How much would it cost to change a automatic 69 mustang fastback into manual?
What would be the total price for everything? Please List all the parts that will be needed? putting in a clutch pedal. Putting in the shift knob. everything LIST EVERY THING ABOUT SWITCHING IT PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A: Everything that Ken K said is correct. also, to add a bit more, you may need a different yoke, depending on what auto box you have now. also, flywheel bolts need to be longer than auto ones. and you will need a manual spacer for the clapper starter motor. If you can't fit it yourself, you may be looking at close to another grand to pay someone to do all the fiddly stuff.
Nice car btw. i have a 69 Mach 1 myself.
Q: is there any way to make a 69 mustang coupe a fastback?
Just wondering out of curiosity.would you have to like buy the whole roof piece and get it replaced? well thnx in advance to anyone.
A: It can be done there are kits and companies that do the conversion. However from what I understand it ain't cheap. Kits usually start out at $4,000 and go up. That's not including materials for the fabrication that will be needed, glass, interior items, time, labor, paint, etc.

I'm willing to spend $1000 for brakes and brake lines. I think I'll need a whole new brake system! Will this be enough? I'm NOT doing it myself!
A: on a car that old, you may need a lot more, like wheel cylinders and Master cylinder.. rubber lines are around $25 each x3 and another $100 for shoes would be the minimum..
