Q: What is a Ford Mustang Cobra Shinoda?
We are trying to find a value for a 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Shinoda. It has 5,600 original miles and has been garaged it's entire life (never seen rain or snow!). It is a beautiful red. The word "Shinoda" is attached to the Cobra emblams on the car.

A: The "Boss Shinoda" package was a graphics and body kit available for the Mustang in the mid 90's. Mechanically it was bone stock, so if it was a GT it had the 5.0L V8 rated at 215 hp, the Cobra had the 5.0L V8 rated at 240hp (Due to SVT GT40 heads and intake) However, I don't think the Shinoda pacakge was ever placed on a Cobra so I would make sure it was a real Cobra and not just a rebaged Mustang GT. Basically, its a better looking, but not higher performing, Mustang GT.

Q: how much hp can you get by boring or porting out the stock supercharger on a 2003 ford mustang cobra?
if you have a 2003 ford mustang cobra with over 500hp can you tell me whats on it "meaning modications" so i can figure out a combo for mine. THANKS

A: I have a 2004 mustang cobra and am making 535rwhp and have run as fast as 10.898 in the 1/4 (on nitto 315/35 R17 drag radials). I have cold air intake, magnaflow catback exhaust, smaller pulleys (im sorry, i dont remember what sizes I went with but I could find out if you really want to know), upgraded fuel injectors, SCT tuner (the one that has 7 different places to turn the dial for 7 different tunes but one space is a kill switch), short throw shifter, and a stage IV port by stiegmyer (which includes upgraded throttle body). I have 2 pre set tunes, one for 91 octane pump gas which gives me around 505 rwhp and the other tune is for when I add a can of Torco which gives me around 99 octane and 535rwhp. The stage IV port from stiegmyer with the throttle body added about 55rwhp. i definately reccomend doing it. I am running 15lbs of boost with my 99 octane tune. What it came down to for me was that I wanted to run in the 10's and make sure I could beat any stock car on the street. My options were either a kenne bell or whipple or port my blower. Kenne bell or whipple would run me around $5000-$5500 installed where the port ran me $1500 installed. I blow away new z06 vettes, zr1 corvettes, vipers, bmw m3 or m5, mercedes amg65 and 55, you name it. Its a great feeling to blow a $100,000 to $200,000 car out of the water with a $30,000 car.

Q: What is the difference between a Ford Mustang GT and a Ford Mustang Cobra?
I think the cobra is completely different from the mustang, but my son thinks the cobra is a type of mustang. Please discuss. Since the mustang is over 40 years old, this could be quite a discussion. Any car experts out there?

A: Cobras are high performance GT's which are mass produced by both Ford and Shelby American Inc. Cobras are supercharged, have different decals, paint jobs, exhaust systems, and performance parts.

Q: will the 2003 ford mustang cobra super charger fit a 1996 ford mustang cobra?
i have a 1996 ford mustang cobra and i want to put on a 2003 ford cobra super charger on but the 1996 cobra has a different intake and it has a computer that opens and closes butterfly's between the intake and heads i need to know will it fit if so what do i need to do to make it work?

A: You can buy superchargers for that year like through paxton, saleen even Ford Motorsports are offering S/C. There is a lot of companies who make them so shop around. I had a 97 Cobra and if you get a S/C it will not put out much boost as you are close to 11 to 1 compression. I never put a S/C on mine as after about 20k they would blow up the bottom end because it was never designed for that type of stress. See if you can get a used 03 or 04 long block S/C that would be the way to go.

Q: How much would it cost to get a 2001 ford mustang cobra engine rebuilt?
I am thinking of buying a 99-01 cobra and ive found some but they have over 120,000 miles but are only $8,000 and wondered if it would be under 6-7Gs to get the engine rebuilt after another 10k milles

A: You could do it yourself for 2K or so, or have a shop do it for under 5K. If you are going to do have it rebuilt, you might as well go 5.1L stroker. It will cost a little bit more, but the performance gains will be great. A 5.1L stroker will probably give you a solid 50hp boost.

Q: Does anyone know where I can get a gas tank for a 1979 Ford Mustang Cobra and at what price?
I have looked everywhere for a gas tank for my mustang and cannot find one at any stores around where I live and I have checked multiple websites and have not been able to find one for a '79. So if anyone knows where I can get one please let me know and what the price is if you know that too, I appreciate the help. Thanks.

A: Any Fox Mustang (79-93) tank for a NON EFI application should work. You may have to get one from a wrecking yard.

Q: Can you change a ford mustang cobra into a automatic car?
I no its manual but i just wanna no if it can b automatic instead of stick.

A: OF COURSE YOU CAN, and cost is not out of sight. this is not common but a lot of manual transmission cars are converted to high performance automatics for the purpose of dragracing. http://www.modularfords.com/2008/08/08/installing-a-4r70w-into-a-03-04-mustang-cobra/ 04 cobra

Q: What are the features of a 2000 ford mustang cobra and is it a good choice for a car and why?
I really like the way it looks. is it as good as it is from the outside?

A: the only cobra that was produced in 2000 was the limited production cobra r which featured a 5.4 liter v8 and was rated at 385 horsepower...only came in red...ford cancelled the production of the cobra in 2000 because the 1999 models did not produce the horsepower that ford claimed...the cobra returned in 2001 with all 320 horses under the hood (1999) models fell quite short of that figure...again the cobra disappeared in 2002 and returned in 2003 with a supercharged version of the 4.6 liter engine... i have driven several cobra models of that particular body style (except the 2003) and they are an excellent choice...they feature independent rear suspension instead of the solid rear axle like the GT models and base models for better handling...they come with ABS, they come equipped with traction control that can be deactivated with the push of a button (big fun)...they only feature a manual transmission however (thats all i like to drive lol) all cobra models feature the dual overhead cam 32 valve 4.6 liter (281 cid) v8 engine the 1999 and 2001 cobras were rated at 320 rw horsepower with a 5 speed manual and the 2003 cobras were rated at 390 rw horsepower and featured a 6 speed transmission.

Q: Where can I buy an owners manual for a 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra?
I've checked all over, but I am unable to find one. I'm looking for one preferably still new.

A: Here's one on EBay - 5 days left to bid http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-MUSTANG-FORD-OWNERS-MANUAL-WITH-WARRANTY-CARD_W0QQitemZ370023930292QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item370023930292 If the link doesn't work, go to EBay, do a search on '1995 Mustang Owners Manual". It'll be on the 2nd page of hits. Good Luck

Q: How Can I Make a 1978 Ford Mustang Cobra II Faster than stock.?
The car has a 302 V8 and I was wondering some fixes to up the horsepower.

A: There are a few bolt on items that would perk it up some, but the real answer is to pull that smog motor out and rebuild it with some decent internals - cam, pistons, etc - install a manifold and a 600 cfm Holley, some headers and scrap the exhaust system for a duel exhaust. Perhaps a set of 3.90:1 gears for that 8" would also wake it up a bit. Then just hang on and enjoy the ride.

Q: what is the difference between a ford mustang cobra and a ford shekby gt500?
i am confused what is the difference is there any. is the cobra just a option on the gt

A: Features, Horsepower, performance and sex appeal. The gt 500 is the higher end

Q: Looking at a Ford Mustang Cobra 2001 and wanted to know what I should be looking for as far as abuse?
Car has 70,000 miles on it and has had NOS ran threw it before, from the looks and upgrades that have been done it looks to be very well taken care of.

A: these are strong engines, and can handle hard driving - providing they have been properly maintained, and since the car's appearance is 1st class this is a good starting point. -original owner car? can you see service records... -running synthetic oil and has it been changed regularly -where the car has been parked , any signs of any leaks -can you determine what shop did the work on the car, including any performance installations, talk to them -state of tires, how much life left (performance tires are expensive) especially for a car that has been modified/ran under stress - i highly recommend you have a proshop give the car a once over (its worth $150 to determine status)...brakes, suspension, and a compression test. in 01 there were only 3300 cobra verts made and 3800 cobra coupes, if you are buying the car privately make sure its a real cobra (lots of clones around) by cking the VIN against a decoder, there will be olne on this page: http://www.mustangattitude.com/mustang/2001mustang.shtml also get on owners forum,,,, svtperformance.com , most owners of SVT vehicles register here or modularfords.com there is 1 specific forum for the 99-01 cobras and you might even find someone who knows the specific car (not many around)....additionally if you purchase it these forums are good sources of info re performance, problem solving, upgrades. cheers 04 cobra (whipple blower at 15 p.s.i., 575rwHP)

Q: What are the pros and cons of the Ford Mustang Cobra?
Ford Mustang Cobra- 1999-2004

A: Everything I state will be a fact. The 03/04 cobras are a different car then the 99-02 cobras so all my information will be about the 03/04 cobras. PROS= The 03/04 cobras with 1k spent on mods will whip a procharged ls1 camero. Stock vrs stock the cobra will blow the ls1 camero out of the water. 12.9 1/4 mile cobra vrs 13.5 1/4mile ss camero(1/4 times taken directly from chevy motor company and Ford motor company) The cameros dont have a built engine and can only withstand about 500hp before they throw a rod the cobras on the otherhand have built engines and can withstand 800 to 1000 hp from the factory and with just 1k worth of mods (cold air intake, catback exhaust, smaller pulleys, and a sct tune) are already at over 500 hp not to mention that if you use the same amount of money that you used to put a procharger in a camero (you could put a kenne bell in a cobra) you would have a 800hp cobra that can beat any car on the road including all camero's, Z06 corvettes, farrari's, lambo's, vipers, bmw, and mercedes. As far as stock vehicals goes, there is not a faster stock car then the cobras for the same amount of money. The cobras have run a 12.43 1/4 mile (Evan Smith fast fords and muscle mustangs) but normally run between a 12.8 and 12.9. There is no other stock vehical for the same amount of money as the cobra that can run the 1/4 in under 13 seconds. The closest is the brand new evo's that run a 13.1(time taken directly from mitsubishi motor company) (cobras 12.9 taken directly from Ford motor company) Other pros include a 6 speed T56 transmission (one of the best transmission built in the world), independant rear suspension which provides not only great handling but great comfort on even the most bumpy roads, 275-40-R17 tires, awsome leather with suede leather inserts seats, 6 disk satalite ready radio, in consumer reports every single catagory rates at either above ave or excellent including reliabillty, resale, engine, ac, transmission, paint, interior, exterior, power windows and doors, and so on. Great gas millage for a muscle car, 17 city and 24 highway. CONS= insurance is expensive, must use priemium fuel, very very very fast car (this can be a pro or con depending on the driver). Like I said everything stated above was researched and is absolute fact, if you buy a cobra welcome to the brotherhood. You will have a lot of fun. Good luck with whatever you choose. P.S. the cobra R's are basically race cars, not a everyday driving car. They do not have rear seats, a radio, ac, or any other ammenities you would want in a vehical you are driving on a regular basis so unless you are only going to race the car, the cobra R is not a good choice. Also, just to give you a more complete answer to your question. The major difference between the 03/04 cobras and the 99-02 cobras is that the 99-02 dont have a factory stock supercharger, the roots type eaton supercharger was first introduced in the 03 cobras and also put in the 04 cobras. There are some other differences but that is the main one.

Q: Is this to much for a 2003 ford mustang cobra?
I am wanting to buy this cobra but its asking for $18500 for 84K miles on it. I went to kbb.com and it was saying for $14000. U think im gettin rip off or no?

A: 84000 is high as most cobras are not run in the wet or winter. i have no idea of condition or whether it is stock (which is sometimes better than upgraded supercharger). 1)the 03 / 04 cobras are among the most exciting/powerful mustangs built 2)you should understand them fully and their stengths/weaknesses before you buy 3)the 03 in particular was subject to a head tic problem and several other recalls, you must determine they were corrected before purchasing 4)there are 03/04 cobra imitators and you must insure you do a VIN ck to the mustang decoder. really recommend you get on http://www.svtperformance.com/ its an owners forum (free registration) and they have 1 group dedicated to the 03/04 terminator series. they also have a full fact sheet on what you should know before you purchase. its a great car, but the mileage you are looking at is high....and you have to understand because of the nature of these cars-they have been beat on, ran fast and ran hard and depending on the owner subjected to supercharger overuse. look for examples like this http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/1003763356.html for example my 04 cobra is running less than 20,000 miles. if you want you can write me directly through yahoo answers (OH AND TO ANSWERER TRAY AND HIS 6 CYL MUSTANG-YOU JUST DO NOT HAVE A CLUE WHAT A PERFORMANCE MUSTANG IS ALL ABOUT-YOU HAVE A DAILY DRIVER, NO FUN LOSE TO MOST JAPANESE CARS) cheers 04 cobra, modified, with a whipple 2.3 blower at 15lbs - measured on dyno at 575rwHP http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/show_image.pl?image=http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/3169000-3169999/3169967_8_full.jpg?081519-289

Q: Anyone know if the Ford Mustang Cobra 4V 4.6L modular engine is sold as a crate engine?
If so can someone please give me a refrence to it?

A: yes it can be. but go down to a ford dealership and go to the front desk and ask them if it would be possible to get that motor as a crate.
