Q: why did my 1990 honda accord start to sputter and die(acting like i ran out of gas) even though i just filled?
the previous day i got it stuck in mud and i had a really hard time getting it out and it was smoking, but it ran fine after that, its not bad gas, tried to reset the fuel pump, it will turn over it just won't start. since it won't start i can use a diagnostic system, if anyone has any ideas PLEASE! help lost my job and can't spend alot of money

A: It may be dbris in the fuel tank that got pulled into the pump or is blocking the line. I also had a problem with this that was actually the ground wire from the fuel pump was messed up.

A: Instead of a CAI, try weight reduction, better tires, removing A/C and power steering. Remove the cats from the exhaust if you can.

Q: Why is my 1990 Honda Accord Lx Shaking?
I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX. When it starts, the rpm Gauge begins at 3 and then slowly goes down. The more it goes down the more it shakes. But once it drives, its better.At highway speeds, the car is very smooth but getting there is where it is rough. The first two shifts(automatic) accelerate very slow. The car shakes very roughly when i come to a stop. The shifts also jump making me pull hard and jerks!

What does a 1990 Honda Accord look like? Does it look anything like the 1996 model? Would the V6 engine from a 1996 Accord (Automatic) bolt up to the 1990 Accord 4Cyl Manual's transmission? Does anyone know where I could view pictures of a 1990 Accord?

I doubt it's possible.

I already changed everything except for the transmission and about half the exhaust (the other half is MX-DS exhaust). And please be serious about the answer. I am not going to trash it after i spent so much money on it.

Q: My car won't start and the green "S" light is blinking in my 1990 Honda Accord. What does this mean?
It's craking just fine and I can smell the fuel after pumping a lot on the acc pedal... seem like there is no spark. Checked the SP wires, distributor cap & rotor all working fine. Most of the time it happen when the engine is very hot or sitting in the sun under 90 degree weather for more than 4 hours. When it's cool there is no problem starting it.

A: Im guessing you mean your service engine soon light. On one of my old cars when the service engine soon light flashed it was actully giving out a code that you can read if you look up the codes for the car I am guessing same year same thing.

When it's flashing the car only uses two shifts, (2nd/3rd gear). I am not able to run the car that way cause it has no strength. Is there anyway i could fix it? I recently changed the tranny on the car, ever since then its been flashing. Is it the computer? or the main relay?

A: Its flashing because its giving you an error code. Your going to have to get the code. Behind the passenger front kick panel, there is a blue cable. You need a jumper wire. In that connecter, there should be two wire, use your jumper wire and connect the two wire together. Turn you ignition to the on position (don't start the car). The S light will blink in different time intervals. One long blink is the tenth digit and the very fast blinks are the single digits. ex- if it blinks one long blink and then 5 quick blinks after, the code is 15. From there you need a book or an online reference to tell you what the code means. Oh, your car has a ecu and tranny computer. they are also located under the passenger front carpet. If the tranny isn't the same year, you might need to change the tranny computer to fit your new tranny. I believe that tranny was used in 90-97 accord model years. 90-93 shouldn't have diferent programing, but 94-97 probably will. They might have programmed the computer different with dx, lx, and ex models but I don't know for sure.
