Q: How bad is it to change the timing belt on a 1999 hyundai accent?
1999 hyundai accent. 1.5 L. I realize its a big job no matter what. Im wondering how bad? Like do you deep to pull the motor? Or perhaps the front clip? Or maybe the passenger side fender. Im sure i can do the belt job. Just dont want to do more work than needed, like I dont want to fight with it all day just to find out I needed to pull the motor in the beginning. Thanks in advance

A: You don't really have to pull the engine out. It is a SOHC engine and it doesn't look that bad. It is a perfect engine to start with as a beginner. I started like everybody from scratch and now I know more than back then. I would advise you to either buy a technical manual for this car or get someone to supervise you (just in case) otherwise, should something come up you might be in for the whole day if not longer. The timing belt is located on the pass side towards the right front wheel. You have a lot of component to remove before you get to it including the engine mount. To remove the mount you have to somehow suspend the engine or support it on a jack (do not put the jack on the oil pan, find a solid point to support the power train). Also, it is important to mark the belt and line - up the top with the bottom of the engine. You have to find the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys. Lining-up the engine has to start from TDC point. Overhaul, not an easy job but at the same token its something that could be accomplished (with a little supervision). Good luck and have fun.

Q: How would I go about getting a manual transmission installed into my Hyundai Accent?
I have a '03 Hyundai Accent with an automatic transmission, and I was hoping to know what steps would be required to make the switch.

A: Jack up the radiator cap and put a car with manual transmission already in it.

Q: Is it feasible to fit a turbo charger and a supercharger on hyundai getz?
I got a 2008 hyundai getz and was thinking of fitting a turbocharger adn a supercharger.....I live in Australia and would probably get it done by a professional garage or something but i wanna know is it really suitable to put these on the getz 1.6 engine and how much will it approximately cost and will it effect the warranty

A: Why don't you just supercharge it and be happy. It will cost you more to supercharge it and turbocharge it than you paid for the car.

Q: What kind of oil does a 2000 hyundai tiburon take?
My boyfriend just bought 2000 hyundai tiburon and it doesn't have the owners manual so we we can't figure out what kind of oil it takes. If someone could let me know that would be great! :)

A: Any 30 weight oil will be fine. Synthetic or conventional is up to you. I prefer 10W-30 for conventional, because it's harder to shear because of the better base stock. As far as synthetic, any synthetic will be fine. I like Castrol Syntec 0W-30. It's made in Germany, and is the only Syntec that is made in Germany. Very good oil. Royal Purple is decent oil, but it sure as hell won't make it last longer than any other quality oil. Royal Purple is what is referred to as a 'boutique oil'. Not sold in real stores, and very expensive. You are better off going with Castrol, Pennzoil, Valvoline, etc. Same or better protection and a better price.

Q: How much will it cost to replace the front axle in a 1999 Hyundai Elantra?
The CV joints in my Hyundai are going bad and several people have told me that they prefer to just replace the whole front axle. I'm just looking for a ballpark figure on how much a repair like this should cost including parts and labor.

A: get another car, its not worth it

Q: Does a clogged fuel filter prevent a Hyundai from Starting?
I have a 2001 Hyundai Accent GL 5 speed manual trans. The car won't start. I can here the starter motor clicking, but the engine won't crank. I want to know if a clogged fuel filter can cause this problem. I'd rather change the fuel filter first (which has never been changed, ever) before I remove the hard to access starter motor. Tell me if this can cause the engine to not crank. Also, if you have any diagrams or resources to change the fuel filter, i'd appreciate it.

A: A clogged fuel filter could keep it from running but has nothing to do with the engine turning over. Check the battery first and make sure it is OK (make sure the post are clean also), if it is all right than check the starter.

Q: What type of metal is a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 Flywheel made out of?
What type of metal is a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 Flywheel made out of? Cast Iron? Billeted Steel? My uncle a mechanic also says that the flywheel usually never needs to be replaced when replacing a clutch if it is made out of cast iron because it is so hard to thin down.

A: Cast Iron.

Q: How much will it cost me to replace the front axle in a 1999 Hyundai Elantra?
The CV joints in my Hyundai are going bad. Several people have told me that it's better to replace the whole front axle. I'm just looking for a ballpark figure on how much this repair should cost, including parts and labor.

A: You can get a Constant Velocity Joint (CV) for around $100 new or $50 for a remanufactured one from a parts store like Napa, etc. I would say the whole bill would be in the ballpark of around $300-$400 including labor if everything went ok.

Q: Does the original Hyundai warranty transfer to a second owner?
Are Hyundai 10yr/100,000 mi warranties only good for original owner, or do they transfer with the car to second owners?

A: The 10yr/100,000 does not transfer to the second owner. The original owner is the only one who gets that warranty.

Q: How do i fix the sunroof of a 1993 hyundai sonata?
im fixing a 1993 hyundai sonata with multiple problems. most of which are cosmetic, and interior issues.. One main issue is that the sunroof does not work. the keypad that controls the sunroof is falling off and therefore the buttons do not work for the glass itself. is there anything i can do?

A: Usually, there is a wrench to manually operate the sunroof that comes with the car in the glovebox. It might be just a hex wrench....or call a dealer for a replacement one if it's missing There should be a small round hole or one that has a small round plug in it in the trim piece around the switch...remove the plug and insert the wrench to manually operate the roof. motor. If you want the switch to operate, you'll need to replace it or the surrounding bezel or take it off and try fixing the switch bezel with glue or see if you can operate the switch better with it off. If it's a simple three terminal switch, you can also determine which wire is for power coming in with a test light and then jump that wire to one of the other two...one to open and one to close.....check for a ground wire as well but usually the motor is grounded to the body/roof..

Q: What is the preferred clutch fluid used on a Hyundai Lantra '96?
I have a Hyundai Lantra '96 and i have to replace the clutch fluid on it. What is the proffered Clutch Fluid used on Lantra's.

A: I assume sense you said clutch this is a straight shift... so who said to change the clutch fluid.... did they also tell you to change the carbon in your engine. In other words there is no clutch fluid to change and someone is taking you for a ride. A fool and his money are soon departed.... you decide what this means.
